Current Mood:
Ponderous
Not as many series as the first part, but hey, we’re now getting into the shows I’m not actually all that excited about. So, without further ado…
Hitohira
Episodes watched: 1
Status: Amused, but not excited.
- I’m not usually all that into slice-of-life, so I suppose it’s not very surprising that I’m not overwhelmed by Hitohira. It’s cute, and it looks like it’ll have a lot of shoujo-ai overtones. It’s about a girl who gets so shy that she can’t speak…who gets dragged into joining the drama club.
Idol Master Xenoglossia
Episodes watched: 1
Status: Yaaaaawn.
- Once again, not a genre I’m into. Take a crew of moegirls and slap them into a mech show? Yeah, I wasn’t into it back during Mai-HiME or My-Otome either. But if it’s a theme you’re into, by all means: the main character’s cute as a button, and even I’ll admit some vague curiosity as to why exactly they held idol auditions to find mech pilots.
Kaze no Stigma
Episodes watched: 6
Status: Intrigued.
- I was expecting some kind of Shakugan no Shana type show, and was pleasantly surprised to find myself wanting to continue following this one. I’m not sure if I could explain why, though, really - the characters are pretty classic archetypes (violent tsundere, tall dark and doucheish, moe-boy), and the plot isn’t all that exciting yet either. Even the animation isn’t especially stellar. And yet…I keep downloading.
Nagasarete Airantou
Episodes watched: 1
Status: Unimpressed.
- Several people told me all within a week of each other that I had to watch this show because it was so funny. I still have no idea why. It’s about a dude who runs away from home and finds himself stuck on an island where he’s the only male. Hormonal moe-girls abound. None of them are interesting. None of them are unique. I have no desire to watch them compete to get into his pants, especially since it’s your typical type of show where you know exactly which girl is gonna get the prize, as it were. Meh.
Ookiku Furikabutte
Episodes watched: 1
Status: Might watch more, if time permits.
- Either this is the first shounen anime to entice the yaoi fangirls without actually trying to make its characters very attractive, or else it’s actually supposed to be about the manly bonds of men or something. It was pretty amusing, but not terribly exciting.
Overdrive
Episodes watched: 0.5
Status: …WTF.
- So first off, it’s set in a fantasy future where 10 billion people are all into bicycling as a spectator sport. It’s considered to be the “most intense” sport (hence “fantasy”). On top of that, the main character is yet another pansy. Why is Japan so fascinated with these characters? Granted, he seems to get gar, but watching him was so painful I couldn’t even get to the point where he hopped on a bicycle - I gave up after he drew his crush/lady-friend in her skivvies.
Seto no Hanayome
Episodes watched: 3
Status: May watch more if time permits.
- A romantic comedy. No unique lead characters, but the situation’s interesting: the girl, who is NOT tsundere (yay!), is also a mermaid. A mermaid whose family is yakuza, on top of being mer-people. Actually, I have to say, all four parents - hers and his - are more interesting than the kids themselves.
