Swag - June ‘07
If there’s one thing in California that I wish we had in Portland - besides lanes and parking spaces that are actually wide enough to fit cars in - it’s a Kinokuniya that gets all of the monthly magazines in on time. I’m kinda lucky to have one at all in Beaverton, but damn if they don’t get delayed on the magazines a lot. I didn’t get the May magazines until the day I left for California…May 17th.

Because of that, I’ll have TWO sets of magazine swag to try and find home for. Bah!

This month the most exciting item, without a doubt, is a deck of Code Geass playing cards that came with Animage, IIRC. I showed them to my dad and even he thought they were cool. But he can get his own damn copy of Animage if he wants ‘em.

Let’s see…Newtype had Geass postcards, and Animedia had stickers from a few series (including Lucky Star, score!). Speaking of, I can’t decide what to call my new laptop: Yuki, Lulu, or Kona-chan. My current laptop is Momo (short for Sumomo, from Chobits), so I’ll probably go with Lulu, since it’s sorta similar in style. (So I need to find a nice big Lelouch sticker for it. When I actually get it…)

I also picked up the anthologies Asuka and Kiss, neither of which are regular for me (Lala is the only one I pick up with real regularity, because I have a subscription). Asuka because it currently houses Geass and I thought I might get lucky on some swag (which I didn’t, except for the Kyou Kara Maou clear folder, which is cute even though I’m not really into the series anymore). Kiss because it has a Nodame Cantabile clear folder which is spiffy.

Let’s see, a bunch of posters but I haven’t really gone through them all. Asuka had a big Trinity Blood one; the other side is Zone-00 which I’m kind of interested in. And there were probably some Gundam and Nanoha ones in the mags…clearly nothing I was really excited about, though. Not a single Geass one even though it made the cover of all three mags.

Oh yeah, Newtype had a special bonus mag for Geass which is pretty spiffy.

That’s more or less it, at least until I go to Kinokuniya back home to pick up my copy of Lala.

    When I was living in the US (seattle) I found it difficult to get hold of mags for a decent price. Thank god Im back in JP ^^;

    In general I consider myself lucky to always live in cities where they even HAVE Kinokuniya ;) But I’d like to try living in Japan. There’s a possibility of it happening for work someday in the future, but probably no time real soon. @_@
