According to this article from the Daily Yomiuri, Taiwan is faster than Japan at adapting Japanese manga into live-action TV dramas. Examples? Two drama adaptations currently in the works in Japan - Yamada Taro Monogatari and Hana-Kimi - were adapted into Taiwanese dramas a while ago - the first back in 2001 and the second last year.
Another example: Hana Yori Dango, which also spawned a Chinese boy band titled F4 - the four guys who played the band’s members in the TV show. Interesting stuff! They also talk a bit about China exporting dramas to other countries, though it looks like none of them have made it to Japan yet. Gee, I wonder why.
