Isn’t it sad, Ayano?

This entry contains spoilers for episode 16. Not that there’s anything to spoil. FILLER ALERT! (And one rather largeish image alert.)

Someone should consider taking the Kaze no Stigma writers out back and beating them with sticks. If only to teach them that having the same line repeated four times - or the same entire conversation repeated four times - does not actually make it a joke. And not only that, but they play with TWO different conversations that get repeated; one with Ayano & co. and one with Kazuma and Kazu-papa.

The saving grace was, oddly enough, my least favorite character Catherine (my least fave for now, anyway, and probably only because she’s so un-developed…er, character-wise, that is ♥) and the “konyoku” gag, which was cute and should have been more of the episode.

‘Cause, really…I can at least argue that the Kazuma/Genma fighting fleshed them out a bit as characters (namely that they’re very similar), but the Catherine thing went nowhere, except maybe to further her crush on Kazuma, which didn’t need furthering. But it COULD have gone somewhere and that might have made this episode less of an exercise in stupidity. I mean, there wasn’t even enough fanservice to justify it that way (for the most part, what you see above is the most you get, unless you wanted some QUALITY fanservice of Kazuma).

Fortunately, it looks like next episode will step away from the Ayano’s-dad-playing-matchmaker nonsense and back into something resembling a real plot, huzzah!
