Rumor: HaruToki 3 Anime
AnimeSuki forum member domino declares that at “a related event” yesterday, an anime adaptation of the PS2 dating sim/adventure game Harukanaru Toki no Naka de 3 is in the works. Since they didn’t offer a source link or even say what the event was, and I have yet to see any other posts about it, I can’t confirm, but it’s perfectly likely.
In HaruToki 3 a girl from modern-day Japan gets tossed into an AU Heian-era Kyoto (8th century to 12th century) and she turns out to be Hakuryu no Miko, the Priestess of the White Dragon. And she meets a half dozen or so attractive eligible bachelors, natch.
Happy though I am at the idea of another reverse harem anime– I think the last ones that saw TV were Ouran High School Host Club and Saiunkoku Monogatari, the former ending in Sept. ‘06 and the latter ending in February ‘07 and being completely vapid), this one seems decidedly along the lines of the cute but dumb Fushigi Yuugi and Saiunkoku than the remarkably clever Host Club.
Putting Fushigi Yuugi and SaiMono in the same category is a travesty- FY is typical “everyone falls in love with the lead” romance, whereas SaiMono has a far more complex and engaging storyline, with political maneuverings, well developed characters and the like. I understand that not everyone will like it, but it’s still unfair to call it dumb when it’s many cuts above generic reverse harem fare.
Anyway, HaruToki 3 will probably be along the same lines as the original Haruka anime, Angelique and Corda- as in not very good at all.
Karura, I think it’s perfectly fair for me to express my opinion on the matter, which is admittedly based on only a few minutes of watching– I couldn’t stand to watch more than that. :)
I prefer to forget about Angelique and Corda d’Oro…why don’t they make an anime off of My Heavenly Hockey Club or something? @.o;
Well, okay, I know why; these shows tend to appeal to dudes, whereas shows geared at guys generally get watched by both genres. But still! ;)
Um, you know that season 2 of Saiunkoku is airing right now, right?
And I love the show, its not vapid. It certainly isn’t braindead like Fushigi Yuugi.
