Is This the End of Geneon USA?
Dated: 20 Sep 2007
ANN has announced that the deal that Geneon USA had with ADV, giving the latter the sales and distribution responsibilities for the former, has now been cancelled. They also claim that Geneon USA was planning on closing its in-house production by the end of this year.
So, Geneon USA minus anime production minus sales and distribution equals…what, exactly? At best, some kind of anime broker; at worst, it equals zero. But of course, now that the ADV deal is dead, that leaves everything in limbo. Including the status of Geneon’s titles, like Hellsing. Eep.

Doesn’t should good for the US division of Geneon. Hopefully, these problems with Geneon USA doesn’t spread to other companies.

Does ANN have an OFFICIAL, verifiable source for their news of Geneon closing its in-house production efforts?

You’d have to ask them– but the way the article reads, I assume it came from the same source as the news of the deal cancellation. Who that source is, I don’t know, since they didn’t deign to tell us. *cough*
