ADV Joins FUNi, Geneon in Layoff Hell
Anime News Network has gotten a report from ADV that the company has laid off 13 employees across the board of their operations (of about 100 employees). They also say that they’ve hired a few new people, though.
The change of staff levels is apparently supposed to reflect their priorities, but it’s not like they’re telling us how many people they’ve got in each department, so I guess we don’t get to know what their priorities are, for now.
So, I think all the FUNi, Geneon, and ADV layoffees should go start their own company. Or at least go have a big layoff party.
Id like to know more about this personally…
I just read this on ann’s newsfeed on my lj and I think the laid off employees should form their own anime company. Like in some extent, what happened to Marvel in the mid 90’s, when their hot shot artists(Todd McFarlene, Jim Lee, Et al) left to form Image Comics. Make the other anime companies pay for what they have done to them lol.
I can’t wait to read your review of Shugo-Chara. XD
Publishers Weekly did a story adout ADV manga on the 2nd of October. It makes for an interesting read. It gets even more interesting if you read the one and only talkback posted to the article. Strange that ADV Manga would get a nice write-up then 4 days later lay off a bunch of folks, there timing was a little…off. I’m sure there is a haiku that covers crap like this.
