Gundam Wing Created on a Dare?
Angry Zen Master reports that in an interview with Gundam Wing creator Masashi Ikeda, he reveals that the series was created as a joke– that they created it because they knew it would be popular, and not because they actually thought it would be good.
Confirmed information? Heck no! Their source offers up the alleged interview and that’s it. But why let something like confirmation get in the way of a hilarious story?
…Though I think most people above the age of 13 who actually watched any Gundam Wing probably could have guessed that this was the case anyway.
HEY SHUT UP
GUNDAM WING KICKED ASS….i think
*sigh*
Okay story goes like this: This anecdote was found on 4chan, claiming it to be from an ANN interview but the link was bogus. Real or not, I found this bit so amusing that I posted it up on the blog. I figured that if it was fake, it was so unbelievably ridiculous that I doubt anybody would have believed it. In the words of a friend, “That’d be like getting Koichi Ohata to own up to M.D Geist”.
Looks like I was wrong >_>
So in other words, simmer down internet.
@Gaijinder: Simmer down? You seem more worked up than I am ;) Or, wait, did I forget that Gundam is Serious Business again?
I posted it ’cause I thought it was funny regardless of truth, and said as much. And life went on. Funny how that happens. ^_^
@gia
Well duh, it IS serious business according to ToonZone right now, 4 page flame war and counting even after a friend who posted the link to the entry in the first place debunked it on my behalf :P
If anything, I just didn’t want a flood of badly spelled e-mails our 6 page essays about the Greatness of Wing (if such a thing even exists).
Ohhh, okay, then I just forgot that this blog is where we bitch about ToonZone. Sorry, my bad ;D
But of course! XD
