First up, Kevin Carney– a sales&marketing dude –thanks us for supporting Karas, and talks about Ghost in the Shell, whose newest release from Bandai has awesome stuff. Noein and Tokko box sets come out in January. They’re looking at lower prices, like $10 a disc. Blah blah blah Ani-Monday! This guy talks fast, so it’s hard to pick up everything; sorry @_@

Strait Jacket, which was announced at Anime Expo and is still in production was recently released in Japan. He’s gonna show us a clip of an episode. Hurray for spontaneous premieres!

It looks pretty good. Good animation and nice horror too. Also, giant almost-mech suit thing. Now he says he hopes that it’ll come out in August. He also thinks it’ll air on Japanese TV in February or March. (It’s an OVA, so it came out on DVD– on November 25th, I think).

They’re finally putting out Tokyo Zombie, a live-action flick they’ve been sitting on for some time I gather. He describes it as the Japanese Shaun of the Dead, so it sounds good to me.

Eon Kid is another title they’re doing; it’s apparently rather popular with kids in Japan (blah blah toys etc).

Their sister company Starz Entertainment apparently put together a documentary on the history of anime, which is kind of neat. He calls it practically a summary of Japanamerica. And we’re getting a little preview of that now too.

Rob Zombie is in it. Heh. It’s airing in two weeks on the Starz Network.

And now we’re talking about Manga.com, which was recently relaunched to offer some free anime on demand (looks like mostly clips). I wasn’t able to get it to work the first time, but they seem to have it working now. They’re showing us a clip from Karas. They’re having a little trouble because of the wifi being kinda crappy. D’oh! ;) It looks like it’s more trailer-ish than actual episodes or anything.

Sounds like there are some pay per downloads available too (as well as DVD buying).

They’re also working on having a more community oriented site with forums and profiles, plus a mobile site and “Manga-fy Me” avatars (*cough*). Oh, and podcasts. Hmm.

Someone just asked about the relationship with Bandai Entertainment, which is only as far as Ghost in the Shell goes. (Someone also asked the requisite “where’s the rest of Fist of the North Star” question; they’re looking into who has the rights currently.)

The company is also in talks to work on finding a digital video on demand service that will work on iPod touch and the like.

The end!

Hello Manga, just sponsor Gaia online for a couple shows. :P

That would be hilarious. Gaia meets Fist of the North Star is total win. :P
