Quickie: What Is VIZ Up To?
Anime on DVD reports that VIZ has pulled Hikaru no Go volume 12 (it’s not clear to me if it’s the manga or the anime, but since the manga shows up on a search on TRSI and the anime doesn’t, I assume it’s the anime) from Right Stuf’s site in the same way that they pulled Mar a while back. And on the same day that VIZ stuff went on sale, too. Wacky. Mar was discontinued; will Hikaru no Go go too?

I do find the HikaGo’s canceling more troubling than MAR’s, though. I love that series & it deserves better. Future volumes of Full Moon wo Sagashite (also licensed by Viz) have also been canceled as well.
From what I hear they might be releasing it as a boxed set (the anime that is). Not entirely sure how well that’ll fly. But time will tell.
If they do end up canceling all three products I think it will hurt them more then taking a small loss for the dvds. Me and some friends who I know have been thinking of just waiting for box sets or until series are finished before buying. That could end up hurting them if many others start doing the same. I still have four incompleat geneon titles and now may be adding three viz titles to that? Now if they are switching to larger box sets and not outright canceling I would not really mind that so much. I tend to collect the who series before watching anyway.
