Quickie: I Always Knew Watching Naruto Was Dangerous

An Indonesian child apparently managed to strangle himself to death after imitating someone on Naruto (no mention of who, or what they were doing), leading a member of Indonesia’s parliament to call for stricter regulation of broadcast materials.
I’m not exactly sure what he thinks stricter regulation will do, exactly. He’s right that people mistakenly don’t see cartoons as adult and probably don’t take violence in them as seriously as they do in live-action TV, but on the other hand– they don’t seem to censor their live-action TV all that much either. Eh.

Uh, the link leads to an article about trains. Anyway, how the heck did he strangle himself to death? Wouldn’t he pass out first due to lack of oxygen?

this just baffles me. I could understand like if the fell off a tree and broke their leg or something, but strangled to death? what happens in naruto that results in strangling?
honestly you’d think more people would realize by now that its not the program’s fault. people are morons, and parents that don’t explain or regulate things to their own children are to blame.
