There’s Something About Zelda

Edit: Credit where credit’s due– Kuri had this news almost a week before everybody else.

So you may have heard here or here or here or a dozen other sites that VIZ Media has apparently acquired the rights to Akira Himekawa’s manga based on The Legend of Zelda. People are going nuts. Why? Because unlike many manga/comics based on games, which are often slapdash because they’ll sell based on the name regardless of quality (this is true of many games based on manga/anime), this one allegedly doesn’t suck.

Akira Himekawa– which is actually a pen name for a female mangaka duo, and who also have done manga based on Astro Boy, Brave Story, and others –have broken up the Legend of Zelda manga into six story arcs thus far: Ocarina of Time, Majora’s Mask, Oracle of Seasons/Ages, Four Swords+, Triforce of the Gods, and The Minish Cap. You can get considerably more detailed info on the popular adaptation over at wikipedia.

Or you can just wait until October 7, which is when the book is supposed to hit shelves.
