3D Ghost in the Shell On the Way
Dated: 14 Apr 2008

Ohhhh, Variety. Such a wondrous deliverer of news. Here’s the scoop: DreamWorks is going to make a 3D live-action movie based on the original Ghost in the Shell manga with Avi Arad, Ari Arad and Steven Paul of Seaside Entertainment set to produce, and apparently it was Stephen Spielberg’s influence that got them the rights to the title (though he’s not directing or anything, apparently). The adaptation will be written by Jamie Moss, who wrote the recently-released Street Kings.
Whee!

…
All I can pray for the next year is that this won’t suck. I’d probably be better off not wasting my time.
The worst part is going to be when I say how much I like “Ghost in the Shell.” Some moron will say “Dude, that movie SUCKED,” and then I’ll have to say “I DON’T MEAN THAT ONE!”

Just remember - all three of those people worked together to bring you the amazing movie we know as “Ghost Rider”. And we all know how well THAT adaptation went.
My hopes for this movie are about as high as the bottom of the Marianas Trench right now.
