Tiamat’s Disciple reports on a TOKYOPOP event in the UK, and notes that Kino no Tabi– which was in limbo during Sakura Con –has officially been dropped due to licensing issues. Sorry, folks.

In happier news, two previously-suspended titles are back: Slayers and Scrapped Princess! T-pop is surely hoping that the new Slayers Revolution anime will rekindle interest; as for Scrapped Princess, well, why not? I’m sad about Kino but excited about Slayers, personally. ♥

EDIT: This article has a follow-up; Tpop reps say it’s all not true.

    Re: Kino

    NOOOOOOOO!!!!!

  3. yuetheguardian Says:

would that be the slayers light novels? if so I’m excited to get the rest and I know someone else whom will be too.

  4. gia Says:

@yue: Everything in this article is light novels. :)

  5. Stephanie Says:

Please check what Peter Ahlstrom said in the comments. There hasn’t been any change on Kino no Tabi, Scrapped Princess volume 4 isn’t being published, and there are no current plans to publish volume 9+ of Slayers.

  6. Tiamat's Disciple Says:

Yeah, just proves my point really TP UK dosent know it’s head from its ahem.

It’s very frustrating to finally get to the rep, get some answers, then to have them overridden by someone from the US office. Clearly TP UK dosen’t know what it’s doing anymore and needs a swift kick in the family jewels

  7. Tiamat's Disciple Says:

Oh, and Hung, according to Peter from TP US kino is still in limbo. Nut as he said to me a few weeks ago, the chances of it being dropped are high, so i wouldn’t get my hopes up just yet :(

[...] back from a T-pop rep on the Kino no Tabi cancellation et al. Apparently it’s all not true; Kino no Tabi has not been dropped and Slayers 9+ is not [...]
