ACEN08: Minor ADV Update
Categorized Under: Con Reports, Features
Dated: 18 May 2008
So I popped by the ADV booth and asked the questions that I could remember (that weren’t too harsh– I’m not inclined to kick people when they’re a bit down), and all I really got is that there’s no comment on Gurren Lagann, ADV Manga is still going to churn out books, and there’s no release date yet for Yotsuba&! volume 6.
Sorry I couldn’t get more, but hopefully they’ll schedule more panels throughout the summer cons.

No release date for Yotsuba 6?
graba waba, I’ve been anticipating when it will finally be announced.

I wonder if they’re going to release any more Gunslinger girl manga. I think they said before they’d release through 6, which I think they have, but now I think it’s up to volume 8 or 9 in Japan.
I couldn’t imagine that they wouldn’t be at AX. By the way, are you hitting all the cons or something?

Thanks for asking about the Yotsuba manga.

2nd the thanks for asking the Yotsub&! question. So long as they haven’t forgotten about it. I would think that if ADV needs cash, why not put out at least *something* that they know will generate income? But there I go…thinking again.

I wouldn’t count on Yotsuba showing up anytime soon…
Chris Johnston (former Newtype senior editor) on the matter:
“I don’t think there’s been any announcement of the sort, but ADV Manga’s been shut down for months now even though they never removed the solicitations for 2008. Your best bet is to rally around someone else picking up the license.”

My comics shop received Gunslinger Girl vol. 6 two or three weeks ago, so I’m not sure how ADV Manga can have been “shut down for months.”

That was published in November of last year.
