Bandai Entertainment Countdown is Up

So apparently that countdown that was pending? It’s now up on Bandai Entertainment’s splash page, counting down to 5pm PST on May 23rd…I think. (That’s the time if the countdown is correct, but before the countdown loaded fully it said “T-2008-05-23 17:00:00 GMT-07:00,” and 1700 GMT would be 9am PST, wouldn’t it?).

So, yeah, uh, sometime on May 23rd, we’ll get an announcement of some kind from Bandai Entertainment. That would be the first day of Fanime Con, by the way.

There’s also more hidden messaging on the splash page. I’ll put it under a jump this time. But you should also check out Bandai Entertainment’s new blog, which has some interesting tidbits. Like this (woot!). And a dirty dirty Aika R16 trailer.

Right then, on to hidden messages!

!– When that phone call doesn’t come at 3 in the morning, all you can do is lay down your arms and watch scantily-clad agents fight. –
!– Sir! Engineering reports shot clock has been fixed! –
!– Resume countdown! –
!– Why would we launch anything without our usual clock? –
!– Send a message to our fleet, disinformation campaign successful, switch to live rounds. –
!– Turn fleet 180 degrees, full thrust! –
!– Sir, weapons is cranky and desires to fire off something. –
!– Tertiary lasers are cleared for deployment. –
!– Alright, permission granted. Let them do what they want. –
!– Yessir. –
!– Two remaining windows look good. –
!– Primary target is now online, downrange safety area also reports good conditions. –
!– Have weapons calculate explosive charge capacities when they are done with the lasers. –
!– Aye aye, sir. –
!– Let us greet our friends with open arms. –
!– Sir! Hidden reinforcement fleet is arriving! –
!– Our battle plans are now set. We fight to live. –
!– Everything depends on this. –
!– Launch director, start the clock on my mark. –
!– Now. –
!– Sir, incoming message from Japan, they would like to ask the citizens about something tomorrow. –
!– We’re conducting maneuvers here! Well… alright… what do they want to ask? –

Part of me almost wants to hope they’re talking about Zettai Karen Children (cranky weapons? Yeahhh), but that doesn’t seem too likely. It doesn’t fit in 100% with Gundam 00 but the lasers, weapons, etc stuff could fit, so maybe it’s a Gundam 00-on-Cartoon-Network announcement?

I suppose another option would be Dragonauts, but…eh. (Besides, Gonzo tends to give their stuff to FUNi these days.)

Anyone else want to speculate?

Maybe Nanoha? They did mention friends and reinforcements…

I really don’t think it Nanoha. Doesn’t sound like a series I have seen though.

My eyes! lol. I have scriptbuddy, which turns off Javascript automatically and forces you to turn it on manually on sites. I turned it on for only bandai-ent.com (there is also JS running from revver.com) and the page decided i would reload like, 5 times a second when I did that lol. Had had to turn the JS for revver on first for it to not go insane, heh.

PS, the countdown for me looks like it’s counting down to 8:00 PM Eastern, which would be 5:00 PM Pacific, so it’s not only you.

Wait, Aika R16? And then the thing about “scantily-clad agents”… Like Agent Aika? Wasn’t that the a titty anime? Is this some sequel or something? I can’t look at the trailer in public.

  5. gia Says:

@Ragnar: Prequel, actually. And yes, it is/was fanservice-tastic.
