UPDATED: Gurren Llagann on Sci-Fi

I’m phone-posting, so no copy/paste, so no link, but my buddy Tim dropped me a note to let me know that Gurren Lagann is scheduled to air on the sci-fi channel on July 28th at 11 and 11:30pm.

Talk about a coup- everyone expected Bandai Entertainment to re-establish a contract with Adult Swim if anything! I wonder if this is what BE’s countdown is all about?

I’m on a shuttle to the airport, where I will pick up a shuttle to the OTHER airport, but whenever I have a sec I’ll log on and fix this post up all proper-like.

EDIT: here is that link, at which you’ll also note they have Blackjack scheduled to air. As for Gurren Lagann, since it’s running in July and the dub won’t be out until the end of this year at the earliest, I’m assuming they’re going to air the sub– which gets me so amazingly excited in so many ways. So, an hour of TTGL and then Blackjack? I’m completely, utterly, totally there (note to self: schedule my July 28th flight back from San Diego for early in the day).

And an interesting tidbit from Rob over at Topless Robot: apparently anime companies actually pay to get shows on Adult Swim. So if you ever wonder why certain shows are on [as] or Cartoon Network and others aren’t…there you have it. (Which throws my assumption of a D.Gray-Man broadcast for a bit of a loop.)

[...] Gia got news that the Sci-fi channel will be showing Gurren-Lagann in July. I wonder if they will show the subtitled version or did they somehow get the dubs for it. I thought the dubs would not be finished by July but by next year. The first volume of the DVD with only the subtitles will be out on the 8th of July. So I wonder which the Sci-fi channel will show? Apparently dubbing of the series has been going on for the past week or two. I wouldn’t say this confirms the Sci-Fi scheduling, but it does make it a tad more likely to be true. I still have my doubts though, but we’ll see.

BTW, awesome seeing you at ACen this weekend! I’ve been a fan of your work ever since your animeOnline days, so I really wanted the chance to at least say hi. ^^
