With apologies to the Mainichi.

Last year, Japan sent Death Note cosplayers Kikiwan and Naoki Shigure (dressed as Light Yagami and Misa Amane, though I’m not sure which was which) to the World Cosplay Summit, where the duo took second place.

This year they’ll return to the summit, but this time they’re dressed as Nausicaa and Grandmother from Nausicaa and the Valley of the Wind. They beat out cosplayers from Dragon Ball Z, Evangelion and even VOCALOID2– yes, there’s a really cute Miku Hatsune and Rin Kagamine. Here is the Mainichi article and here is their gallery.

It was a good show at Cosfesta in Tokyo, there was about 1000 cosplayers watching the show. Evangelion was really tough, the mobile suit they made for the show was awesome. Its hard to deny a really good show though; Kikiwan and Naoki Shigure took it. Really inventive costume of an Oumu monster, Naoki is curled up and crawling around in there.
