Who Needs Sweet’n'Sour When You Have Tsundere?
Dated: 20 May 2008

With apologies to AkibaBlog.
AkibaBlog reports on a new candy that’s hit streets in Japan: it’s a promo for Hayate no Gotoku! and it’s tsundere candy. The “tsuntsun” candies are sour while the “deredere” candies are sweet.
This is awesome, and I want them, even if a box is ¥840 (a little over $8 USD). Although apparently each box comes with a small microfiber towel featuring a Hayate character, so that could be well worth it, hmm.
Okay, anime merch dealers of America! I demand to see these at a con this summer! Get to it!

Ha ha, I saw this at akibablog too and thought it was soooo clever

The only problem I have is that Nagi isn’t really tsundere. =/

I always did love sour candy

I can’t believe they actually did the idea past concept… I would buy a box at least if I could.

They really needed to make sour candy with sweet cores. Licking your way toward the deredere part of the candy would define the “true” essence of tsundere. ww

I agree with Miha. I was thinking that they’d missed the boat, slightly. They should be like Lemon Heads.

It just coined a new term for me. Sweet and sour candy shall now be known as tsundere candy. Interesting idea there.

DO WANT. Great idea.

Awesome!
HnG is the perfect anime to introduce this, considering the amount of tsunderes in the anime..
But it’s a little too expensive..huh..
Still, DO WANT.

Wha? How is Nagi not tsundere? But good luck with seeing these for sale at a con. Well, maybe since this show has run for quite a while now, but damn was I disappointed in the dealer’s room at Sakuracon. It seemed like everything was Cartoon Network licenses and, inexplicably, Fate/stay night, which was a good show but when did it air, three years ago? I guess a downside to the “mainstreaming” of anime is that it’s easier to appeal to a broad casual audience while ignoring the hard core. And I can’t believe I just admitted, even by implication, that I am a hardcore anime fan. I think I need some time alone now.

Incidentally, Toys Logic is importing it. Just thought I’d let you know in case you wanted to buy it.

@Draneor: Oof, ToysLogic. I guess I’ll consider it, but I was NOT impressed with them when I bought my L Nendoroid from them– it came a couple of MONTHS after I was supposed to get it, and then only because I called in and yelled at them. -_-
