Geneon Shows Signs Of Life

EDIT: I should have clarified– this is Geneon Entertainment (JP), not Geneon USA. However, I still take it to mean that Geneon (JP) would at least *like* to continue doing direct business in the US.
Remember a while ago when I reported on rumors that Geneon was in talks with a new DVD distributor? And how the source– Robert of Robert’s Corner Anime Store –said if we don’t hear anything by this summer we probably won’t hear anything period?
Well…okay, we don’t have any solid news on any such deal, but we DO have signs of life in the form of an Anime Expo announcement: Geneon is actually bringing a guest. That guest is Yoko Ishida, well-known for anime themes such as Sailor Moon’s “Otome Policy,” Shakugan no Shana’s “Aka no Seijaku,” and a personal favorite of mine, A Little Snow Fairy Sugar’s “Sugar Baby Love.”
HOPEFULLY– and that means we don’t know yet! –but hopefully that means Geneon will have some good news for us at Anime Expo.
Looks promising.
I agree Go Geneon Go!
sugar baby love was totally a rubettes song first look it up. the english version is a direct version of the rubettes.
This does not mean anything for American Geneon. All it says, the Japanese Geneon agreed to give Ms. Ishida a vacation time, or perhaps even accounted it as a concert trip. Ms. Ishida visited AX back in 2002 or 2003, so AX people knew whom to call, and vice versa.
@yue: I’m well aware of that. I have both the original Rubettes version and Ishida’s version, and like them *both* quite a lot. :) I don’t know anything about the version that was used with the dub on the grounds that I…never watched the dub. ^_^
@Author: Excellent points all, and I probably should have clarified a bit more in the post. I do take it as a sign that Geneon (JP) would at least *like* to continue doing business in the US directly, however.
yoko ishida did an english version for one of her Cds,m which was the same words as the rubbettes one.
