WAIT! STOP EVERYTHING! It’s all wrong!

…At least, that seems to be the run of things at the moment. JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure’s anime AND manga have ceased publication for the time being because of the appearance of an Arabic book being read by a villain in the series. Apparently Shueisha didn’t realize that the book that was picked was the Koran– way to go! You can read more about it in English here, or in Japanese here.
We’re not done yet. No, it seems that the ecchi-but-entirely-unsexy Kanokon has been pulled from Gyao’s online streaming service, says alafista. The naughty show apparently was the #1 most-watched by elementary school students (well, that main character DOES look pretty damn young). Awhoops.
But wait, there’s more! Japan’s Democratic Party is reportedly thinking about monitoring and censoring websites and eroge.
Hooboy, what a day.

Yeah I heard about Kanokon and this crap about banning adult games etc. hopefully will never happen. ;_; According to that site anyways that petition has nil chance of getting the adult games and magazines banned thankfully.

I am definitely of the opinion that the DPJ is trying to play the “think of the children” card in this… Since the LDP is being almost conciliatory whilst tightening these laws, I can’t help thinking perhaps the DPJ is just trying to make them look bad on an emotive issue. Particulary that petition, the tone was frankly hysterical, not what you’d normally expect from sober seeming Japanese politicians.

Doesn’t the DPJ have anything better to do? Sad, really.
