In Preparation: AnimeNext– With ADV?

So, the next con on my schedule is AnimeNext in New Jersey next weekend.
There are only going to be a couple of industry panels. First up is Del Rey Manga, who has already said that they won’t be announcing anything new– but that they’ll talk a lot about manga submissions, including (I hope) their contracts for original creations– a hot topic thanks to Tpop’s Manga Pilots Program contract.
Another company hosting a panel is Media Blasters, who doesn’t tend to do a lot of panels, so I’m looking forward to it. They recently announced Dokuro-chan, and that Seirei no Moribito will still make it to Adult Swim, but here’s hoping they have more to talk about!
And here comes the kicker: ADV is on the list of dealers confirmed to be in attendance. They aren’t scheduled to host a panel, and of course I have no way of knowing for sure that they’ll actually be there– but they might.
SO! Here’s the list of companies and guests you can leave me questions for, and as always, I’ll do my best to get them answered– and there are a lot of voice actors, webcomickers, and western industry members here:
- Del Rey Manga
- Media Blasters
- ADV
- Rentrer en Soi
- Steve Bennett
- Joe DiGiorgi
- Chris Malone
- Kensuke Okabayashi
- Onezumi and Harknell
- Michael Terracciano
- Tom Wayland
- Greg Ayres
- Leah Clark
- Aidan Drummond
- Brian Drummond
- Michele Knotz
- Rich McNanna
- Bill Rogers
- Brad Swaile
- Alison Viktoria

You really need to corner ADV and ask them what the deal is. No new licenses, their website was dead for months, the only solicits are really compilations, skipped con appearances… are they a dead man walking confirm/confirm.

Hi Gia, could you ask someone from Media Blasters what release pattern Dokuro-chan will take (assuming a volume per season, so 2 volumes for both series), if they actually have the second season, and how it will be packaged (if this doesn’t get an artbox I’ll cry), please :)!
I’m still buzzing from the fact we’re going to be seeing Dokuro-chan on DVD ^_^
Many thanks in advance!

Brad Swaile… I remember him! I think he voiced Mousse from Ranma, which I used to love.
And yeah, it’d be great to hear any news on Yotsuba vol 6.

I’d love to see an interview or any coverage of MB- John Sirabella seems to have really brought excitement to things lately with smart choices for niche anime and titles with true wide appeal like Voltron and Invader Zim. They also have fun ways of announcing licenses at random, and tend to keep announcements well paced.
If ADV does have a panel, I hope good news comes out of it. While they may be having issues, I could see focusing on their current titles and catalogue working for them to keep things going….. it’d be sad to lose them

[...] Rey’s panel is at 5pm EST. So you only have about 2 hours to add any Del Rey questions to the Anext thread! Also, ADV is in the dealer’s room, and no, they’re not talking. Just [...]

Maybe you should suggest to Del Rey that they look into stealing Yotsuba. It’s pretty clear at this point that ADV isn’t going to (or be able to) continue. TokyoPop might’ve been the one to ask, but they’re not in any shape to do it, either.

For Del Rey: status of Phoenix Wright manga, please.
