Nintendo: ‘Our Foot Tastes So Good In Our Mouth’
Or alternately, “I regret that this misunderstanding has created such offence and disappointment within the community.” So says Nintendo Europe employee Laurent Fischer, who ticked off the gaming world– not always the most patient of groups to begin with –by declaring that the only people who would want a Wii hard drive are “geeks and otaku.”
I find myself impressed in spite of myself that he actually knew and used the word “otaku,” honestly.
The attention has shifted slightly to David Jaffe, who apparently didn’t notice the t at the end of “Laurent” and went on a rant about Fischer, all the while assuming that he was a woman. Oops!

I think Nintendo has a HDD solution in the works… after all, the GameCube has a crapload of accessories (GBA Link Cable, Donkey Kong drums, network adapters, GameBoy Player, etc. etc.). The Wii will get its share in addition to this random shit 3rd parties (and Nintendo too I suppose, with the Wii Wheel and Wii Zapper) make like Wii Sports equipment.
A side-note: The comments box here should have a scrollbar or something… in Minefield (FF3 nightly builds), it doesn’t show up. I have to press the down key to go the latest line once I’m past the first seven lines.

@IcyStorm: I’d worry about it, but I’m literally in the process of creating a new layout this very moment– having a little problem implementing the tags, so I’m not totally sure when it’ll go live, but soon. The new layout does have scrollbars. :)

I think only cheapskates would want a HDD on their Wii; non-cheap otaku/geeks already spend more time on their PS3/X360.
