Yes indeedy, Death Note and Blue Dragon Ral Grad artist Takeshi Obata is going to be doing the character designs for the newest Castlevania game, Castlevania: Judgment, according to Kotaku.

Unlike previous games in the franchise, Judgment is going to be a fighting game. Kotaku notes that the DS game Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia can unlock bonus content for the game. GoNintendo has more, including what that bonus content is, and a quote from game producer Kouji Igarashi, who promises that the genre-switch won’t harm the game’s quality.

I’m a bit worried about the genre-switch I don’t have a whole lot of faith. I mean I know this isn’t the best selling series or anything, but I don’t think this is a good choice to make. There is a lot of plot holes they need to get fixed, along with having a game in 1999, which according to the games time line is when Dracula is finally killed for good. I don’t think a fighting game can do that, though I almost feel bad now for joking about them doing a tactics game, it could be next now.

Atl east the art will rock.
