AX08: Gossip, Tidbits, and Tomorrow
So! Word is that FUNimation is going to have even more to talk about tomorrow, not just at their panel but possibly out of it…and of course Right Stuf’s panel is tomorrow (I won’t be in attendance but at least one of the Japanator guys will be, so hit them up for the news– then leave me questions to ask a Right Stuf rep), and they’re supposed to announce two new licenses.
No doubt we’ll hear plenty from VIZ and Bandai Entertainment, and last year Dark Horse surprised many by having one of the biggest licensing announcements of the con (and THE biggest manga acquisition, I think)– Gantz, so we’ll see what they have up their sleeves this year. (I’m hoping for news on the CLAMP mangettes project!)
It should be interesting to see what Digital Manga Publishing is going to be up to for the rest of the year– and of course, for the BL fans I’ll be hitting up their child companies’ panel, June/801, who will probably throw out a slew of twenty licenses, if past performance is any indication!

…And hopefully I’ll get my interview with Gen in there somewhere! (I’m still holding out hope for some facetime with Shokotan and Hideyuki Kikuchi, so cross your fingers for me.) Don’t forget to post your questions for me so I can do my best to get them answered!
And for you AX attendees, if you spot a crazy brunette with a sticker-covered laptop sitting up front (or near a power outlet) typing like crazy, feel free to stop by and say hi. :)

If the “Technology, Entertainment, and Licensing” panel is noted as “Closed to Public,” how is it possible to attend? Do you have to be invited or what? I do have a press badge but I’m clueless…
I’ll say hi if I spot ya at VIZ and Bandai.

@Icy: Press and industry only, so you should be fine.
…Though honestly, a “keynote” is supposed to be given to all attendees at an event, so calling it that and then closing it to 95% of the attendees doesn’t make a lot of sense…but still, if you have a press badge you should be able to get in if you want.
