Fullmetal Alchemist Sequel Planned: ED RETURNS!

Canned Dogs reports that a leak from Bones has let slip that a sequel season of Fullmetal Alchemist is in the works. (Would it pick up after the movie? After the first anime? Where the anime split off from the manga? No clue!)
And a Darker than Black 2. Call it rumors for now, but…damn. I’m not sure if I’m excited or terrified.

I always thought that FMA was ripe for a sequel.

@Josh: Sorta, but…seriously, will they pick up from the movie, or will they try to find a way to go back into the manga canon?

A sequel…season? I wonder how long Bones will shoot for? Another 51-episodes?

“I’m not sure if I’m excited or terrified.”
Sums up my reaction. ^^;;

If you really have read the manga you’d know that its completely impossible to join the series back to it. So it will be more of random nonsensical storyline.

I’m much more interested in DTB 2. I really enjoyed that show and can’t wait for more.

FMA: Terrified
DTB: Excited

._. well for FMA i’m hoping they continue it..but the OVA kinda solidifies things with ed being an old man in our time…although we have to see how he got his children of course…winry coming may be possible for the sequel if its true

DTB2: Eeh. Sure, many questions were left unanswered, but I don’t think it really requires another 13+ episodes to be tied up. :/ (an OVA, maybe)
FMA2: wtf?! Okay, I hated the movie and how it ended, but what’s left there to tell? Okay, maybe how they find their way back, or something,
What’s wrong with Bones? Did they run out of manga to adapt, or people to write original stories? Are they so desperate for money that they need to return to FMA? (Eh, in this case, at least they’re not making eroge adaptations.)

if that were true, I’m not really sure what I’m feeling. I really loved FMA and I loved the movie (even though I cried a lot at the end, cause I didn’t really like THAT end)… so I’m not sure if a 2nd season could brign me all that back, what I loved so much… I’m afraid it won’t be that good like the first one was…. then again, I would be very happy!!!
as for the story… I’d like to see a movie-sequel, cause I really hated it, that they stayed in 1921… *drop*

That’s a bad idea. It had 51 episodes and ended nicely. And besides, if there was a sequel, there would be no alchemy unless they go back, which they can’t, so screw that. Unless they can come up with something to change the plot drastically so it can continue, leave it alone.

Why whenever an anime sequel is announced (usually to a successful (future) prequel) people immediately think the worst.
Bones made FMA awesome the first time, and they’ll do it again… It’s not a bad idea to do a sequel, it’s frigging awesome. I always thought there was room for more FMA, there were tons of parts of the first season that could have been expanded to make a good 7x episode series for the first run, anyway.
I hope FMA continues to have sequels and continues forever. It’s not often an awesome anime gets a sequel!

“Bones made FMA awesome the first time”
Says who ?

Says almost everyone who is not you ._.

The FMA anime was awesome, until it ran out of manga around episode 25. Past that, I did not like the direction it went or the lack of conclusiveness or coherency in the ‘ending’.
Any chance Bones will hit the resent button and do a new 26-51?
…. I can hope.

I wonder if they’re going to do sort of an “alternative ending” type of show. It’ll be kinda weird, but it’s nice to have all the material in the manga animated.
I’m really excited for Darker than Black, as much as I enjoyed it, it felt like there were somethings they wanted to show, but kinda had to “rush it”
I hope it isn’t like episode 26, as much as I like the whole crew together in humorous episodes, it’ll just make me miss them more…

Actually from what I heard and thought was that Bones is going to make the manga-version of the FMA anime. (I dunno, something about a “re-make” perhaps?)
Whatever happens, I would be so excited if the rumors are true! (Been having a hard time finding a good anime/manga that would be better than FMA…)

If they do restart the series I would love to see it.
