Quickie: ‘Final Fantasy XIII’ Still Exists; Is 360-Bound

My older-brother site Giant Bomb has a nice E3 twitterfeed going, for those of you who want the updates but can’t sit around reloading Destructoid all day…and the latest is that Final Fantasy XIII is going to hit the Xbox 360 as well as the Playstation 3, a long-hinted at but never officially confirmed detail that’s sure to make 360-owning RPG fans very happy (and possibly some PS3 purchasers, presumably those who bought it primarily FOR the next Final Fantasy installment, rather unhappy).

Unrelatedly: Rock Band 2 epic track list is epic.

Not good enough to make me get a 360, too many games on 360 are on PC, and my PC is good enough to run them on and they’re 10 dollars cheaper for the PC and free online play. I’ll be picking up a Ps3 some day, esepcially since” FF VERSUS 13″ looks more interesting, and that was just re-confirmerd to be exclusive. Grats to the 360 fans tho.

There’s nothing “unrelated” about Rock Band 2’s epic set list.

    It’s always related.

    ALWAYS!

    :-P

  3. Slim Daniels Says:

I’d have been all about this a 5 years ago. After playing 12 hours of FF XII and hating every minute of it though this news only makes me happy because Dragon Quest and Enix games might hit both as well.

  4. omo Says:

There’s a silent and multitudinous number of PS3 owners who don’t really give a damn about FF13…

  5. gia Says:

@omo: …Well, I suppose I could have listed out all the various people who wouldn’t care about this news in addition to a couple of groups that do, but that would have made this a rather lengthy post. ;)

@Slim: From all reports, FFXIII is going to be nothing like XII, and thank the role-playing gods, because XII has got to be one of the most boring games I’ve ever purchased.

Why did you waste your time refreshing pages instead of watching the press conference directly?

    @Kougeru

Good thing that “the last remnant” was announced for the PC

  7. gia Says:

@jp: Why would I watch the press conference directly when it’s not focused on my particular specialty (read: anime), I have other stuff to do, AND I can just load up GB and Dtoid right afterwards? And only once each, for the record. ;)

  8. Caitlin Says:

That sucks. I didn’t buy the PlayStation gaming system strictly for Final Fantasy but it was one of the reasons I kept upgrading. My fiancĂ© has a 360 so I guess I see no need to get a PS3.

Meh. I’ll save my money for a Wii instead.

  9. Dawn Hewitt Says:

As long as it’s on PS3, too, I am happy.

  10. IcyStorm Says:

I am excited as a 360 owner (don’t have a PS3) =] Just kind tweaked that the 360 development hasn’t even started yet (will begin simultaneously with the PS3 localization for NA and Europe, I believe), but at least I’ll be able to obtain a copy.

Older brother site? Are you somehow affiliated with Giant Bomb?

  11. Zeouterlimits Says:

More people get to play great games, so that’s good news :).
I have both, but if the 360 version is the same as PS3, I’ll get the 360 version, it’s overall a better system.
