I bet there are a few current or former Ragnarok Online players reading this, right? (It’s okay, don’t be ashamed. I won’t make fun of you…much.)

Well, the game is expanding to the Nintendo DS, according to 1up– though so far I’m not sure if it’s going to see a North American release; it’s due to hit streets in Japan on December 18th, but no NA release has been offered up so far.

Then again, I’m not sure if the game is still popular here, having only played it for a whopping fifteen minutes total myself. Any RO fans out there able to shed light? Do you think it’d sell here? Hey, how well are those Ragnarok books of TOKYOPOP’s doing, while we’re at it?

    Just a note, Ragnarok Online isn’t Japanese-made, it’s Korean-made. In regards to popularity, I can’t quite say.

  2. gia Says:

    @Meteoric– I know it’s a KRPG, but if you looked at the original source they refer to it as “the most popular MMORPG in Japan,” hence my title. Sorry if it was unclear. :)

    I play it, and I’m hooked on it, so there’s a nintendo DS version, then I will get a Nintendo DS and play it. I love the game :3

  4. Tombae Says:

    You might try fixing ur title then since its CLEARLY Korean then……

  5. gia Says:

    But…the title doesn’t say it’s not Korean. Nor does the title say it’s Japanese. It says it’s “Japan’s most popular MMO.” Which it is: the most popular MMO in Japan.

    Is it really that confusing, even after reading the comments? I mean, I’d hate to have to seriously dumb down all my headlines from here on out, but I guess I could o_O;

  6. Kurono-K Says:

    Wait, are all you saying, just because something is korean, it can’t be popular in japan?

    You guys are anime fans, no? That comes from japan, and I doubt you guys live in japan, and yet, its popular in where ever you live?

    Not that complicated : /

    Yuuuuup, I’m a former player. Started during alpha and played for roughly 3 years. I have/had a lvl 77 Luck/Falcon Sniper. I ultimately stopped playing when all my friends left for WoW and the exp curve at that point got pretty ridiculous, especially since I was leveling alone at that point.

    I still have love for the game because I met a lot of great people because of it.

    Candlestick hat FTW!
