awa08: Funimation

Unrelatedly, why are panel rooms so dang cold? ;.;
The men of the hour just entered the room: Adam Sheehan and Lance Heiskel. Looks like only Sheehan will be at the panel table but that’s typical.
Opening up with the Darker than Black trailer, and they’ll close with the new one from the FUNi podcast.
Then there’s the usual industry talk– don’t panic, blu-ray, change, cycles, etc. YouTube, Funi channel, funi channel mobile…
Hellsing Ultimate 4 is coming 9/23 and the LE will come with a 200 page artbook @.@ Can’t remember if that’s new but it’s awesome. Devil May Cry v3 due 10/07. Ghost Hunt part one (eps 1-13) on 10/07 as well (not new but yaaaay). Jyu-Oh-Sei full series also on the 7th.
Negima!? spring and summer specials on 10/14. Claymore v1 also; starter set has a collectible 24-page booklet. Ouran part 1 on 10/28 and 2 on 1/06.
Afro Samurai Resurrection, yaaaay! Mostly you know this: it’ll be a full-length movie, Lucy Liu as the villainess, etc. Now, trailer. And finally, Darker than Black on 11/25, starter set has another collectible book.
Moving on to q&as. Kyo Kara Maoh!? if they pick it up and do it they’ll try to keep the original cast but no promises. Do they have internships? They have an internship but he’s not sure if they’re looking right now.
Is Funi going to do the new Fullmetal show and will they do Soul Eater? They’d love to do both but no promises, but they’ll probably be first in line if the FMA thing gets made.
Any changes in cover art/look of boxes for Geneon boxes? No, they’re staying consistant and Geneon is actually doing production. How much for Samurai 7 on BD? $99 for all 26 eps. Will they do older shows? Haven’t yet but may eventually. May do DtB on BD but nothing official there either.
DBGT will be 4:3, not widescreen. Why was Nanoha’s name shortened? JP companies’ request. D.Gray-Man is going well, just started recording. DtB box: two 13-ep boxes? No box is I think what he said. Witchblade on iTunes? No confirmed date, hopefully soon.
Initial D? They haven’t picked any more up but there’s always a chance. Swamped with Geneon and Sojitz stuff. Baccano? Sub eps aare online but that’s it for now. But it is coming along.
They are not involved in the live-action DBZ movie and can’t make Piccolo green. Ouran themes will have English versions but both will be on dvd. Possible hint at possible attempts to get the show on tv? it’ be nice to see more female-oriented anime on the tube.

I know this is unrelated to the Funimation panel but AWA is the one con I would like to try in attend next. I will miss it this year.
It’s really the nearest con to me. I live in South Carolina. We don’t have any anime cons here.

There’s always Animazement in Durham, NC, which is a really nice mid-size con in late May. For the past couple years I’ve gone they’ve brought in a rather impressive lineup of seiyuu for guests, and compared to larger cons you actually don’t have to camp out for ridiculous amounts of time to get autographs.

..that thought is scary…why do companies even try to make themes? Nothing wrong with “Sakura Kiss” and “Shissou”

No one brought up the whole Pumpkin Scissors/Red Garden/NHK/probably other series issue or the Shana OVA-only-being-available-as-part-of-the-box-set-and-screwing-over-the-buyers-of-the-singles thing?

Kougeru: No, nothing is wrong with them. Sheehan said that it’s for “bigger series” and series that might go on TV (hence what I said about the possibility of Ouran on TV).

AWA just really likes to have the air cranked up. It does tend to get chilly, unless you’re by some of the gaming rooms where you’ll hit a wall of humidity when walking inside.
I did like the “We hope Fox does well, and that’s as PC as I can get” line about the Dragon Ball movie. Sucks or not, they’ll probably sell more DBZ boxes.
