NYAF08: Bandai Entertainment

Okay, so I’m actually sitting in a panel waiting for the Anime Journalism panel (which I’m on) to begin in a few minutes.

Fortunately for you guys, loyal reader Kuro is in the Bandai Entertainment panel, and he just texted me to inform me that they have dropped both Sola and True Tears, which I know will disappoint some of you. Sorry, guys!

Apparently we got punk’d! Sola and True Tears will be released in full collection forms later on– no dates yet, I think.

Aaaand Akira was just announced for blu-ray in Japan– and BEI announced it today for the US too! It’ll hit stores in February and cost $50 (or rather, I’m guessing $49.99).

Finally, BEI has scored the Gurren Lagann manga. Good times! Look forward to my follow-up interview later this weekend.

    That is a shame, True Tears was good. Sola was crap so I don’t feel too bad about that.

    Aww I liked True Tears ;_;

    Too bad about them, especially True Tears. Though, I really hope they’re still planning to release BV’s Shigofumi, I was looking forward to it.

    Thanks so much for the reporting. Could you ask about Gurren Lagann’s performance on Sci-Fi channel and plans for Gundam 00’s DVD release?

  5. Niko Says:

    Is there going to be a description or notes of the anime journalism panel?

    Niko: I hadn’t planned on it…it was mostly about “how to get into anime journalism” more than, say, issues within the anime journalism field. And the vast majority of our advice was a) write, write, and write some more, and b) make sure to present yourself as a professional– get your work done well AND on time, don’t act like a blubbering fan-person, have reasonably developed social skills, etc.
