ADV Awakes from Hibernation, Has Clannad?

Wow, definitely missed this in all the NYAF hype: Nebs reports via the Fanboy Review that ADV has acquired the rights to Clannad, despite losing the rights to both Air and Kanon (which are also based on eroge created by Key).

Since Fanboy didn’t offer a source (*ahem*) I’ve got an e-mail out to ADV reps to confirm (or deny) the news. It’s certainly a title up their alley, but given the status of the previous Key titles, it seems a little surprising. I’ll get back to you on that as soon as I can!

I’m not sure how I feel about this rumor. I’d love to own R1 DVDs for Clannad, but I don’t really think I trust ADV to finish anything at this point.

  2. Dop Says:

At one point, that would have been a complete no-brainer, but now I’m not so sure. Can they hold onto it until the end, or will they leave us hanging again and waiting for someone else to rescue it?

  3. Kyaa the Catlord Says:

They should forget about Key and move on to Circus titles.

Da Capo is much better imho. :P

  4. Kyaa the Catlord Says:

Oh yes, and since its been forgotten about, its probably cheap by now. :P

  5. Kougeru Says:

I honestly couldn’t stand Da Capo >.<….for a lot of reasons. Clannad is great though, I have faith in ADV since they’re the only company that seems to have more than 5 good VA’s and good translators. I think they were just overwhelmed last year by getting so many titles, they arn’t really that big of company in terms of employees.

  6. Niko Says:

Because Air and Kanon did so well for them. Really, I hope this is a rumor. I don’t see Clanned selling well, and ADV needs something that sells well.

  7. Nagisa Says:

For the record, Clannad is not an eroge. There is no adult content in the game.

  8. Niko Says:

It seems Matt Greenfield and Greg Ayers confirmed it, if what ANN and Sogen Con’s website tell me is true.

I’m kind of surprised that’s what they’re spending what money they have left on.
