According to World Screen News, VIZ has announced a new licensor of Death Note– The Northwest Company, a manufacturer of home decor items. Yes, now U.S. and Canada-based fans can buy Death Note pillows and throw blankets…you know, the ones that aren’t imported or knockoffs. This looks like TNC’s first anime merchandise, but I guarantee if you’ve ever set foot in a Hot Topic, you’re familiar with their wares. For some samples, try their Pirates of the Caribbean swag.
I just hope they make an L dakimakura. WOULD TOTALLY WANT!
Isn’t she lovely? This is a custom “gyaru” edition of a Gundam figure, the MG Gyan. Apparently a staffer at Bandai was “inspired” to give the figure a more “feminine air” and is now auctioning the results off, and it’s currently at ¥39,000 (about $370 USD). The seller’s desired price is ¥50,000 (about $475), and they’ve got another two days to make it.
I wonder how many people are preparing to snipe that sucker from space like Lockon?
Via Sankaku Complex, who also has more shots of the figure (and a picture of the original MG Gyan it was derived from).
Moetron reports that an OVA of Lucky Star, the very successful anime adaptation of Kagami Yoshimizu’s 4koma strip, will be announced in the next issue of Comptiq (L*S’s home magazine). (If you’re wondering about what it says about Type-Moon in that image, it says it’s going to have some details about their new project.)
Also, the issue is going to have Lucky Star magnets. *Adds to her amazon.co.jp to-buy list* ♥
So! Right Stuf has preorders for the first 9 episodes (on two discs) of Gurren Lagann, Bandai Entertainment’s sub-only release.
Interestingly, they also have a special edition of the bare bones release o_o; It’s unclear what all the features are, but don’t be fooled by the two discs; the regular edition has two as well. It looks like it comes with just a CD, presumably the “Sorairo Days” OP single or something along those lines.
And hey, speaking of Gurren Lagann– the official website has opened on up. It looks like they’re pre-selling movie tickets on May 30th, during which time the first 10,000 purchasers will get a free poster, and again on July 18th, when they’ll give away 10,000 limited-edition illustration anthologies (DO WANT). And the movie, of course, hits theaters September 6th.
CollectionDX brings word of upcoming releases from Kaiyodo’s Revoltech action figure line, with the biggest name (as far as I’m concerned) being their Gurren-Lagann figure. At the affordable price of ¥1995 (about $19.50 USD), I’m looking forward to getting one of these. And I’m totally going to try and sit it in the meditating position they show in the above pic, too.
Oh baby baby. Not impressed by those fake Yokos (from Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, of course)? Well, don’t worry your pervy head for one minute longer: Gainax and Ichijinsha have your back! They’ve just released a new book of art featuring our favorite buxom red-head sniper, cleverly titled Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann: Yoko Photo Collection.
The book just hit streets in Japan today with an MSRP of ¥1890 (about $17.68) and features, as you see in the preview below: bathing Yoko, bikini Yoko, tennis Yoko, maid Yoko, Wait-Weren’t-You-In-Onegai-Sensei? Yoko, and classic sniper yoko.
You’re welcome. ♥ And yes, do want.

Remember how Washinomiya gave in to the Lucky Star fandom and started selling cell phone charms? Well, now the city of Satte, which is where Lucky Star lead Konata lives, is apparently proposing to do the same thing.
According to a report from Anime on DVD, Right Stuf is no longer going to carry Mythwear products once they run out of current stock, and all licensing agreements for Mythwear to produce merch for Right Stuf’s titles are hereby cancelled. (Mythwear, for those who don’t know offhand, is the company that makes all those anime bags.)
Yowch! Harsh breakup, amirite? You’d think Mythwear was cheating on Right Stuf!
But as it turns out, Right Stuf is just fed up with Mythwear’s inaccessibility– apparently the company’s phone has been disconnected and no one’s answering their e-mails. I can’t help but notice that their website is dead as well. Hmm!
