ICv2 reports that Svetlana Chmakova, the creator of the popular TOKYOPOP global manga Dramacon (pictured left), as well as Yen Press’ upcoming Night School, is moving on to a new frontier: animation.
The show is being marketed to 8-12 year olds and will feature certain manga-style visual elements, and follows a quartet of tweens in their daily lives. It’s called My Life Me (pictured right) and 52 11-minute episodes will hit Canadian and French TV in fall ‘09. No word on whether there’ll be a US release.
TOKYOPOP just sent out an e-mail announcing a series of polls to determine “Who Has the Most Mojo in Shojo.” The characters that can be voted for include both of the main boys from Gravitation, one of the catboys from Loveless, “Momo” from Tramps Like Us, and even a couple of characters from OEL titles like DramaCon.
And as you’ll see after the jump, it looks suspiciously like it might have been inspired by a certain very popular character tournament that takes place online. *coughs*
Also, I don’t know who I would pick to win this. Read more…
Just caught this on my way to bed - apparently Svetlana Chmakova - creator of the very popular OEL manga DramaCon as well as a new title for new publisher Yen Press, Night School - is waiting for a green light for a show on Cartoon Network.
An adaptation of DramaCon, perhaps? Or something completely new? I’m not especially an OEL fan, nor a big fan of what I’ve seen of Chmakova’s works (admittedly, that’s very little), but I think I’d try to tune in for an OEL anime on Cartoon Network to see what it’d be like.
