Even though the countdown isn’t up yet, Kotaku has already received confirmation that Chrono Trigger is being ported to DS– and its North American release has also already been confirmed for this holiday season.

The port will be adapted to make use of the touch-screen, and it will also feature a new dungeon and some kind of wireless play. (Surely you didn’t expect cheap-’n-fast direct port?)

So to the approximately six million of you who talked about how excited you’d be if this was true: get partying!

Yes, I do have the Square Enix RSS feed on my site. And I got a surprising hit on it today: a new countdown site for some unknown Nintendo DS project. I’m not exactly sure when it’s counting down TO, but Kotaku speculates that it’s Chrono Trigger for DS. (Certainly makes sense since the URL is “ctds,” but that could just as easily be “count down DS,” so it’s not a dead giveaway.)
