Ah! My Figures: Louise gets Bustier. I Mean, a Bustier.

By gia on September 12th, 2007   Figures, JP News, News, Toys / Swag

So, of the three tsundere gals voiced by Rie Kugimiya this year– that’s Hayate no Gotoku’s Nagi from spring, Zero no Tsukaima II’s Louise from summer, and Shakugan no Shana’s Shana coming this fall –my favorite, at least design-wise, is definitely Louise. (Character-wise, I’m torn between Louise and Nagi– Shana’s kinda meh with me).

Anyway, Heisei Democracy has just posted about a delicious new Louise PVC figure from Alter. But at first I looked at the name (Louise, Bustier Version) and thought: “wouldn’t Louise being busty sorta destroy the character?” Looking at the photos I thought, “she doesn’t LOOK much more busty…but that’s a nice bustier she’s wear– ohhh.” I just thought I’d share my retardation with you.

Without further ado:

Randomly, I just noticed that all three of Kugimiya’s shows this year are [blank] no [blank]. Huh.

A quick catch-up

Wrote this between Dark Horse and Broccoli, so here you go:

  • Production I.G’s English-language website has a profile up for the Tsubasa Tokyo Revelations OVA.
  • ANN, who I can always count on to cover panels I can’t get to, reports that a sequel to Robotech: Shadow Chronicles is in the works.
  • ComiPress has a press release from the often-underrated publisher DrMaster.
  • anime!anime! has word on the Hayate no Gotoku TCG, due out August 9th.
  • Canned Dogs has good taste in modern art - a vaguely Warhol-esque Haruhi print going for $8,500 USD in a charity auction in Australia.
  • Aaaand Tehelka.com has an interesting article on the growing popularity of hentai in India.

  • Zombie Loan And…Stuff

    Zombie-Loan 1

Ahh, the first episode of Zombie-Loan. I won’t say that it’s brilliant TV, but it’s not bad so far. The art style is a bit weird for me compared to Rozen Maiden (chins and noses are so…damn…POINTY!), but I can live with that. As long as Michiru grows some balls, anyway.

And that’s my first summer show so far (got a few raws to check out though, plus the BSS Higurashi release - so quit trying to tell me about the damn show, people!). Now, on to the usual suspects:

Bokurano - Where are my fucking subs?!
Claymore - I kind of miss Raki, actually. Can it be timejump tiem nao plzz?
Darker than Black - See Bokurano
    El Cazador - see Bokurano
Emma season 2 - see Bokurano
Gurren Lagann - Kinda dull right now, honestly. Waiting on another timejump here…
Hayate no Gotoku - The most consistently funny series from spring, definitely.
Heroic Age - Why do I keep watching this? And why has no one killed Deianeira’s retarded brothers loooong before now?
Kamichama Karin - Why do I keep watching this? And why has no one put me out of my retarded misery looooong before now?
Kaze no Stigma - Why do I keep watching this? And will Ayano and Kazuma stop being complete douches to each other?
Lovely Complex - Holy shit, a romantic comedy that doesn’t suck!
Lucky*Star - Dale and I kept doing “bye-bee” symbols at each other at AX. That’s all you really need to know about that.
Romeo x Juliet - Where are my fucking hormones? (No, really?)
Sisters of Wellber - Just started picking this up, and it’s not as bad as I expected. But, protip, subbers: CYRANO DE BERGERAC. Not Bulgerock. Not Voljirakku. THEY’RE TRYING TO SAY BERGERAC. Read maor!
Sumomomo Momomo - …see Bokurano, damnit.

    Hayate 11

Better that than all this seriousness! What’s with all this non-gag, potentially-serious drama in my Hayate?

Moving along…I’m considering dropping Kaze no Stigma.

    Kaze no Stigma 9

I’ll admit it: I can be a bit of a girly-girl when it comes to romance. So I instinctually want Kazuma and Ayano to get together, since that’s pretty clearly what the series and all of its characters are gearing up for. However, in order for me to enjoy watching that happen, Ayano has to be a little less of a dumb tsundere bitch, and Kazuma has to have his ego deflated a lot. Oh, and he has to quit beating up fairies, too.

Kaze no Stigma 9 - II
    So, we’ll see.

    Dear Japan,

WTF did you do with Ryoko Shiraishi? o_O; I guess she was sick or something, because this entire episode did not feature Hayate, except in clips from previous episodes.

That said, it was a freakin’ hilarious episode - nearly every second was a reference to an anime or game. But they said in the preview at the end of the last episode that this would be an anime-only story, and it shows…it makes absolutely no sense =P

I’m assuming that Shiraishi got sick or had something else come up so that she couldn’t do the episode, and they had to throw something together in the meantime. Shame I can’t find anything about it on the ‘net…

…And I’ll close off with another screenshot.

So on Saturday, while I was still in California, my parents had dinner plans with friends, which left me a blessed evening alone to catch up on all my anime. So I figured now was a good time for a check-in on my favorite series this season. Except at the time, “now” was something like Sunday. Oh well.

Right, then, tally-ho! Read the rest of this entry »

    Spring 2007 - The Reckoning Part I

    Current Mood: Ponderous emoticon Ponderous

This entry was swiped directly from my blog over at animeOnline. It’s a little old; I’ve watched a lot more of these shows but haven’t really changed opinion on them. Part II is coming up next.

So. LOTS of new anime this season, and I’m trying to catch as much of it as possible…or at least as many first episodes as possible. And I have so many yet left to watch! But, here are some of my early impressions:
