Lenny Kravitz Performs “L” Theme Song

Yeah, I didn’t need to trick up that headline, it’s pretty funny in and of itself.

The above video features “I’ll Be Waiting,” the recent release off of Lenny Kravitz’ new album, which will now serve double duty as the theme song for L: Change the WorLd. (Don’t bother watching the video; it’s just shots of Kravitz…just listen.)

Yes, it’s already been released in the U.S. I was a little worried when I heard it because most of Kravitz’ music just doesn’t seem like something that would suit a movie about L– a little too much of a “cool”/badass feel. This song doesn’t have that problem. It’s a nice tune, pretty but not too pretty, so the mood of the song is okay…

But the lyrics are very, very, very romantic. It makes me suspicious that they’re going to hook L up with some kind of Mary Sue. Which is bad enough in and of itself, but when the actress who plays the heroine of the flick is only 13…oh, god, wait, is Misa going to be in this thing? If those bastards ruin my L by sticking him with that bimbo I’ll stab them in the face. (Or write them a very nasty letter, I guess.)

L’s Heroine Chosen

fukuda_mayuko.jpg The heroine of the upcoming Death Note spin-off movie revolving around super-sleuth L has been chosen: 13-year-old Mayuko Fukuda. (13? Puts the damper on any romantic relationship…I hope, anyway.) Fukuda is an experienced actress nonetheless, having worked in the industry since she was four years old - she had a role in Kamikaze Girls (not sure what role), and she had another unknown role in the drama adaptation of Chibi Maruko-chan.
