Quickie: Minoriiiiiiin! Photoboooooook!

So Minori Chihara– The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya’s Yuki, Lucky Star’s Minami, Dragonaut’s Toa, and an incredibly cute woman (and a talented singer to boot!) –is going to turn out a photobook, according to jiiii. The book will feature a Q&A section which features fans’ questions, and you, too, can submit one here (in Japanese– and no, using Google or Babelfish to translate to Japanese will probably NOT cut it).

Hey, Itsa Me!

So I dunno if any of you noticed, but I did an article for Fanboy.com on ten manga and anime to watch for in the U.S. in ‘08. They’ve been posting one entry per day since the 16th, which means they’re already more than halfway done (eep). Here are the entries so far (and yes, this is a U.S.-focused article, so many of these have already aired in ‘07– but many are being released in the U.S. in ‘08, and/or have sequels coming).

  • Gurren Lagann
  • Lucky Star
  • Suzumiya Haruhi second season
  • Gundam 00
  • Gakuen Alice
  • Code Geass season 2
  • More to come, of course, so keep an eye on Fanboy.com for the rest of the list. ♥

Quickie: Aya Hirano To Be On TV OMG!

By gia on December 4th, 2007   JP News, Misc, News

Okay, but seriously, Aya-tan is gonna have an actual regular gig as herself on TV, hosting a 15-minute “after-school ‘edutainment’ TV show,” says hashihime.

Hopefully she will teach the kiddies about aliens, time-travelers, espers, and the hardships of being an otaku.

    Zombie Loan And…Stuff

    Zombie-Loan 1

Ahh, the first episode of Zombie-Loan. I won’t say that it’s brilliant TV, but it’s not bad so far. The art style is a bit weird for me compared to Rozen Maiden (chins and noses are so…damn…POINTY!), but I can live with that. As long as Michiru grows some balls, anyway.

And that’s my first summer show so far (got a few raws to check out though, plus the BSS Higurashi release - so quit trying to tell me about the damn show, people!). Now, on to the usual suspects:

Bokurano - Where are my fucking subs?!
Claymore - I kind of miss Raki, actually. Can it be timejump tiem nao plzz?
Darker than Black - See Bokurano
    El Cazador - see Bokurano
Emma season 2 - see Bokurano
Gurren Lagann - Kinda dull right now, honestly. Waiting on another timejump here…
Hayate no Gotoku - The most consistently funny series from spring, definitely.
Heroic Age - Why do I keep watching this? And why has no one killed Deianeira’s retarded brothers loooong before now?
Kamichama Karin - Why do I keep watching this? And why has no one put me out of my retarded misery looooong before now?
Kaze no Stigma - Why do I keep watching this? And will Ayano and Kazuma stop being complete douches to each other?
Lovely Complex - Holy shit, a romantic comedy that doesn’t suck!
Lucky*Star - Dale and I kept doing “bye-bee” symbols at each other at AX. That’s all you really need to know about that.
Romeo x Juliet - Where are my fucking hormones? (No, really?)
Sisters of Wellber - Just started picking this up, and it’s not as bad as I expected. But, protip, subbers: CYRANO DE BERGERAC. Not Bulgerock. Not Voljirakku. THEY’RE TRYING TO SAY BERGERAC. Read maor!
Sumomomo Momomo - …see Bokurano, damnit.

And now, a fanfiction manifesto. Read the rest of this entry »

Code Geass / Card Captor Suzaku

Hokay, folks, I’m all updated on my anime, plus I’ve got some more con talk and some other news, so let’s get crackin’ on this long-delayed post.

Lucky Star 10 and Meet Yuki-chan

    Lucky Star 10

Why is this show so awesome? I know many people find it irritating, but I’m constantly surprised by how fun it is - the writers really know their audience. Yes, it’s really just a constant stream of inside jokes…but so are many Kevin Smith flicks and they’re still awesome.

    Laptops
In other news: my brand-new shiny laptop showed up TWO WEEKS EARLY, e.g. yesterday. I didn’t want to share her until I got stickers for her all printed and stuff. (I got into the habit of putting stickers all over my laptops. Don’t ask me how, I don’t know.) In the above picture, the computer on the left is Sumomo, my old Dell Inspiron 1100 which did me pretty well for four years. On the right, I introduce: Yuki. Bigger pic after the jump if you want to see what exactly those stickers are. Read the rest of this entry »

Catch-Up: DtB, Gurren Lagann, Love*Com, Etc.

So on Saturday, while I was still in California, my parents had dinner plans with friends, which left me a blessed evening alone to catch up on all my anime. So I figured now was a good time for a check-in on my favorite series this season. Except at the time, “now” was something like Sunday. Oh well.

Right, then, tally-ho! Read the rest of this entry »

    Spring 2007 - The Reckoning Part I

    Current Mood: Ponderous emoticon Ponderous

This entry was swiped directly from my blog over at animeOnline. It’s a little old; I’ve watched a lot more of these shows but haven’t really changed opinion on them. Part II is coming up next.

So. LOTS of new anime this season, and I’m trying to catch as much of it as possible…or at least as many first episodes as possible. And I have so many yet left to watch! But, here are some of my early impressions:
