I know, I know, I was quiet today. Things’ll be a little hit or miss while I work on this project. But I promise, it’s well, well worth it.
In the meantime, have some Nendoroid Yoko, now available for preorder! Yay!

If this isn’t the Nendoroid to end all Nendoroids, I dunno what would be: over at TomoPop, Brad reports on a Nendoroid based on Sayonara Zetsubou-sensei’s titular Itoshiki-sensei.
They aren’t talking about what kind of option parts there’ll be, but there better be a noose. We’ll see the full version at WonFes on August 3rd, so don’t let despair get to you in the meantime!

Good Smile has just announced a new series of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya petit Nendoroid trading figures, and oh god are they CUTE! In addition to pirate!Yuki, ninja!Yuki, and butler!Yuki, you’ve got Eiffel-Tower-Humper!Haruhi, Hachiko!Mikuru, and a couple of the figures are even being made into phone and zipper charms.
I was trying to post this at 12:30am last night, but the need to sleep finally won out in the fight against crappy hotel Internets. Oof!
These are just kinda wrong and dirty and awesome.

But, really, they screwed up. Ryuk is supposed to be the reindeer! See the jump… Read more…
Okay, honestly, I don’t quite get the “petit” Nendoroid line. They’re nendoroids, but smaller and with less stuff and honestly, not as nice looking. (Okay, I know, they’re cheaper– ¥500.)
But I don’t CARE. You know why? Because finally, FINALLY! The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya’s beleaguered narrator Kyon gets a figure. Even if it’s a cheap-ass mini-figure and his faces just don’t look quite right.

You can see the whole crew (except for Itsuki Koizumi, oddly) here (via Heisei Democracy). They’re due out in November, by the way.
As you might have read in the comments earlier, the Minoru and Akira figures are “puchi” (petit) mini-figures that come with the Konata and Kagami figures (and don’t have their own accessories– and are probably also unpainted?).
Also, more/better pics of the figures are available on the official Lucky Star site (via Heisei Democracy).

A poster on the HongFire forums spotted these scans from a Japanese magazine, illustrating some Lucky Star Nendoroid figures. For those unaware, Nendoroids are a series of figures by the Good Smile Company. The figures are all SD and come with interchangeable faces and props. And they’re AWESOME.
Pictured are the Konata and Kagami figures, which come with animal-form (Konata’s a cat, Kagami’s a bunny), glarey pointy faces and hands (DADADA!), and sweets (Konata has a choco cornet, Kagami has pocky). Also pictured are unpainted versions of Minoru and Akira. It’s hard to tell if they’re going to get full versions or if they’re some kind of accessory (they’re called “nendoroid dobuchi,” and I couldn’t find a translation for “dobuchi”). But it doesn’t matter because Akira has her super-long sleeves. WIN!

Current Mood:
Approving
Now, admittedly, I’m no expert on the figures scene. But even I know potential big figure news when I see it.
In the linked article, Heisei Democracy spots word on a Japanese blog that Bandai Visual (Japan) has allowed a second-party resin kit of C.C., a character from Code Geass, to go on the market. Bandai traditionally doesn’t allow second-party figure sales, but as HD notes, this could mean that we’ll see Geass figures from other companies, if not characters from other titles.
But more excitingly, it means we could get Nendoroid figures - you know, those SD ones, like L and Yuki - of Geass characters. Which would make me a very happy gia indeed. ♥
