Oh, beloved Google alerts. Picked up word on Muhyojo that a brand new Dragon Ball anime is going to be announced in volume 21 of Weekly Shounen Jump, along with a new One Piece anime.
But before you get all excited about new TV shows– it’s just short specials, coming out this fall as part of a Shounen Jump tour, though it may also be televised eventually.
I did pop by the FUNimation booth and talked to Adam Sheehan, who said he hadn’t heard anything about One Piecenot continuing on Cartoon Network, but told me to check in tomorrow with someone else at FUNi, which I will do. I couldn’t find anyone for BVU around, though, so I wasn’t able to ask them anything. (Maybe they’ll be at NYCC?)
That was pretty much the rest of the con as far as work went, so I hung around the Kumori Con booth and pimped out my tail for a while, then helped with the teardown. That was kinda fun. (I love riding on the carts!) Hey, did you know that the dealers basically get to leave their garbage behind? Here’s a video of the aftermath:
And with that, I’ll leave you with a final, epic cosplay image.
Hope you enjoyed Sakura Con ‘08! For those of you who are curious about my next con coverage, it’ll be New York Comic Con next month.
ANN reports that Cartoon Network is not planning on showing any more One Piece episodes, which is interesting because one item I didn’t bother mentioning in my FUNi liveblog that Sheehan noted was that he thought that One Piece WAS supposed to come back (but he wasn’t sure).
I’d still bet on Cartoon Network knowing what they’re talking about, but I’ll check back with Sheehan after the Antarctic Press and Dark Horse panels just in case. Also, looks like Antarctic joins VIZ in the no-show category.
Vision of Escaflowne is going to see a high-definition remastered box set (although not next-gen), according to SaiAni.
Japanator notes that in spite of calling it the “One Piece Panel & Premiere,” FUNimation didn’t actually premiere the dub at the Otakon panel. (They say it was a “tease,” so either they only showed a short trailer or they didn’t show anything. I’m not sure. ♥). Maybe they cut it as part of that 10% everyone’s talkin’ about.
Some of you may remember that I posted to animeOnline about the new CLAMP in Cardland TCG, but since anime!anime! just posted about it again, I thought I’d mention it.
Also, I’ve just made an agreement to do some news for another site, on a temporary basis to begin with and then we’ll see where it goes. I’ll still be posting here too, for the time being, so don’t worry ;D Who is it? It’s a seeeecret! For now.
‘Night night! Tomorrow I’ll actually be around more of the day, so you can probably expect more posts. Especially a round-up of the stuff I’ve been watching lately @_@ (Maybe the Reckoning, part II?)
