I shit you not. This is possibly the most random OP crossover I’ve seen, but it may also be the most impressively done.
…I mean…damn. (Woulda been better with Yoko as Haruhi, Kamina as Tamaki, and then having young!Simon as Hunny, instead of having two Simons…but still. That’s nitpicking.)
So that last article’s mention of Fumi Yoshinaga reminded me to do this…here’s the final list of the underrated manga articles I did for Fanboy.com. In no particular order:
Instead of posting about all manner of depressing things here today (like I’ve been doing over at theOtaku), I’m going to post a bunch of videos I’ve stumbled upon this evening.
First up: Sayonara Neuro-sensei:
FF6 High School Host Club:
And, how did I miss this? Apparenlty it’s a little old, but too awesome to pass up. Ef Star:
AnimeSuki forum member domino declares that at “a related event” yesterday, an anime adaptation of the PS2 dating sim/adventure game Harukanaru Toki no Naka de 3 is in the works. Since they didn’t offer a source link or even say what the event was, and I have yet to see any other posts about it, I can’t confirm, but it’s perfectly likely.
In HaruToki 3 a girl from modern-day Japan gets tossed into an AU Heian-era Kyoto (8th century to 12th century) and she turns out to be Hakuryu no Miko, the Priestess of the White Dragon. And she meets a half dozen or so attractive eligible bachelors, natch.
Happy though I am at the idea of another reverse harem anime– I think the last ones that saw TV were Ouran High School Host Club and Saiunkoku Monogatari, the former ending in Sept. ‘06 and the latter ending in February ‘07 and being completely vapid), this one seems decidedly along the lines of the cute but dumb Fushigi Yuugi and Saiunkoku than the remarkably clever Host Club.
Some naughty Ouran High School Host Club communities have been deleted, leading fans to fear that LJ has moved out of the Harry Potter fandom to target anime communities. It looks like at least two of them were deleted by their owners, but the status of two others’ is unclear: ouran_papas and ootoricest both offer “this journal has been deleted and purged” messages, NOT “this journal has been suspended” messages.
However, given that in their last attempt to rid themselves of “kiddy porn” LJ changed from using their many-years-old tradition of striking through the deleted account names and bolded them instead, it’s not hard for me to fathom that they might change the message on the deleted account to prevent yet another uprising. Sorry if that sounds a little conspiracy theory-ish. By the way, the communities’ names are bolded, not struck through. But again, with LJ changing little things like that now, it’s unclear whether that means the journals were deleted by LJ or by their owners.
After hearing about this, a number of Weiß Kreuz communities moved to Insane Journal.
The ever-so-kind Dick McVengeance of Japanator is currently sitting on on FUNimation’s Otakon panel, and has quite nicely informed me of the newest licensing announcements.
First up: Sasami Mahou Shoujo Tai (Sasami Magical Girl Club, a spinoff from Pretty Sammy, which was a spinoff from Tenchi). And…
Ouran High School Host Club! At last! I know I, and a lot of others, have been wondering why no one’s announced this title. And it was acquired some time ago - even at New York Comic Con in February, VIZ mentioned that someone other than them had nabbed it. No clue what took ‘em so long.
Tangentially related: I’ve started a thread on the new forums for Otakon. ♥
