Those of you not familiar with the manga or the one-episode 2004 OVA of Hoihoi-san should do yourselves a favor and find it, because it’s getting a TV anime. The series is about a cute little toy called Hoihoi-san who, at night, becomes a vicious (and badass) killer of cockroaches…for the sake of protecting her master, of course. ♥

Also, a follow-up o: it looks like the reason I couldn’t find this Sensei no Chonmage series has to do with the fact that Moon Phase had the title and subtitle reversed? Also, because I suck, I translated the name rather poorly (damn you, jdict!): it should be more like Warring States-era Student’s Diary: Sensei’s Topknot.

Moon Phase isreporting that the October issue of Comic Ran TWINS announced that there’s going to be an anime called Sensei no Chonmage ~Sengoku Gakudou Nikki~ (Sensei’s Topknot ~Belligerent Pupil Diary~ starting this October– a very sudden addition to the fall anime lineup. Moon Phase actually says more or less, “Although it’s an incredible leap, it looks like it will start broadcasting in October.”

The best part is that I can’t find the least bit of information on the series– probably it’s a newer series? I’m not even sure if it’s based on a manga or not. I can’t find information on the authors, either, including the correct pronunciation/romanization of their names (I think it’s Kazuo Takashiba and I’m not even gonna try the second name). I am, however, guessing that it involves at least one teacher with a topknot (in the traditional Edo style) and a belligerent student as well.

Note that the cover of the TWINS issue confirms that the series is being made into an anime, but doesn’t mention the date.
