Muhyojo has word that Tochi Ueyama’s manga Cooking Papa– which appears to be unrelated to the DS game Cooking Mama, for the record –is being developed into a TV drama starring Tomomitsu Yamaguchi as the lead, a salaryman named Araiwa Kazumi who hides the fact that he, and not his wife, does all the cooking and cleaning around their home– and really enjoys it. (You may know Yamaguchi from Kisarazu Cat’s Eye as, um, Yamaguchi…or Shinsengumi as Shinpachi Nakagura.)

The manga has been running since 1986, with about 94 volumes out to date, making it the 5th longest-running manga in Japan. It’s been developed into an anime that ran from ‘92 to ‘95 as well. Should make for a fun time!
